The Active Boycott

On November 5, this year the Lukashenka regime has started the nomination of the candidates to the next elections to the local authorities (the local Soviets). The regime has mobilized its entire administration in order to nominate the regime’s candidates which will be elected without fail. For the first time the regime is nominating so many its own “observers” (from the state factories, local administration, universities and schools etc.) to control every polling station. The regime has its “electoral commissions” used several times in the past. Thus the mechanism of the electoral frauds is ready. Recently the regime has introduced several negative amendments to the actual undemocratic electoral Law. Now it is forbidden to the candidates to propagate their programs publicly. Every contact with the electors in some public place will be qualified as the unsanctioned rally. These elections are not real even in accordance with their form.

We take into consideration the mechanism of the electoral frauds as well as the isolation of the people during the electoral process. It will be senselessly and harmfully to participate (to candidate and to vote) on these elections because the participation would assist the regime’s campaign of the deception of the people. This participation will witness the lack of the self-respect. In these circumstances the appeals to the regime (on the “free, just and democratic elections”) are unserious and futile.

The actual pseudo-electoral campaign is much more dangerous for Belarus because the regime could launch an illegitimate referendum on the so-called “constitutional act” (on the annexation of Belarus by Russia) the same day as the local elections. It would be categorically impossible to participate in this referendum. It is necessary to be on the alert observing the secret and criminal talks between Lukashenka and Putin held in Moscow on November 10, this year where Lukashenka trade the national interests of Belarus.

It is necessary to struggle against the profanation and the lawlessness. The active boycott of the poll (as the manifestation of the public protest) represents the most adequate method in actual circumstances. The active boycott means not only the refusal of the people to go to the polling stations and to vote. It is necessary to go to the streets and squares in order to demonstrate that the people is not voting.

Even if the protesters will not be numerous it would be better than to go to the polling stations and especially as to “elect” and “be elected”. If many persons would go to the streets they will represent the force.

It is necessary to consolidate the people’s force. It is impossible to participate in the profanations and the lawlessness made by the anti-Belarusan regime. It is impossible to support its fraud every time and then to express the surprise that the people has been deceived. Let the regime to vote for itself. The participation in the false elections represents the refusal to struggle.

Let us go on the way of the real struggle for our Homeland, for the Justice and the Solidarity. This way will determine the forms and the results.

Only the struggle by a great number of persons (not the games with the regime) can secure the victory, as well as the positive changes in the people’s life in Belarus.
