Belarus, Ukraine, Eastern Europe – the Territory of Genocide In XX century the totalitarian regimes of Russia and Germany have killed tens of millions of civilians. In Germany the people has been killed in the concentration camps and partly in the working camps. In the Soviet Union the people has been killed in the forests, in the NKVD cellars, in the Belarusian fortresses and castles transformed into the prisons. The killings have been placed on the secret list. Until 1988 almost nobody knew about these killings. Officially the Soviet authorities have acknowledged the GULAG and told only about it. But the GULAG was a system of the working camps. This is a question: where are disappeared millions of persons of different nations? The Russian communism was based on the NKVD and the lie. But in 1980s the lie and the communism have collapsed. Until now the quantity of the persons killed in the USSR is not counted exactly. The scientists are operating with the numbers from 5 till 70 million of persons and even higher numbers. But other argument is important. During the communist Soviet occupation (until Stalin’s death in 1953) and during the German Nazi aggression Belarus and Eastern Europe as a whole (except Russia) was a territory where the Soviet and German Nazi had perpetrated the more horrible mass killings and carried on the policy of the genocide. At last the Western scientists began to research this topic. Timothy Snyder (the American researcher of the Holocaust) maintains that the epicenter of the mass killings perpetrated in XX century was situated in Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. Hitler and Stalin would eliminate the population on these territories in order to realize their geopolitical plans. During the WW II the Germans have killed in Russia every 25th civil citizen, in Ukraine and Poland – every 10th. At the same time they have killed in Belarus every fifth civil citizen. After the war the communists have presented the number of the victims – “every fourth”, and in secret added to this number the Belarusians killed by the communist regime before the war. But if we would calculate all the Belarusian victims killed by the communists since 1917 we will have a horrible number of victims – almost the half of the civil population of Belarus. Timothy Snyder makes the same calculation: “In 1941-44 German army organized the starvation of the Soviet prisoners of war, killed the Jewish people in the gas chambers, shot the civil population during the actions against the guerillas. They have transformed Belarus into the territory with the highest level of the death rate in the world. During the WWII the half of the civil population of Soviet Belarus has been killed or expelled by force. In others European countries the terror was not so universal”. In this connection the Britain explorer of the criminal acts of the totalitarianism Marc Masover (Snyder mentions his work) noted that Europe has been the “dark continent” during the war, and Ukraine and Belarus have been the “heart of this darkness”, a total cemetery. None the less the Russians (as well as the Germans) succeeded enough deeply to hide the testimonies and the information on the genocide in Belarus and Ukraine. They covered their terrorist activity with the term “Stalinist repressions”, GULAG and the dethroned “cult of the Stalin’s personality”. In 1988 the conspiracy of silence has collapsed after Kurapaty near Minsk had been revealed. Than the Ukrainians have revealed Bykivnya near Kiev and published the information about the Great Famine in Ukraine. We have revealed also many new places of the repressions in Belarus. I personally know more than ten such places near Minsk and even in the center of the Belarusian capital. Minsk is a city-cemetery, which is based on the bones and symbolizes our history. These tragic events remain in the memory of the generations but unfortunately this memory disappears. Exploring Kurapaty, Loshytsa and other places in Minsk I found out many impressive facts. But first of all I tried to find the witnesses and speak with them. I understood that the time is going and it is necessary to hurry. All the witnesses told that every night the special cars-vans of the NKVD came to the cities and villages and take away the arrested persons. The witness Mrs. Tatsiana Matusevich (born 1906) from the village Zialyony Luh near Kurapaty told me that before the II WW the NKWD transported the people to be shot in Kurapaty the car after the car. One night they came to her village and took away 25 persons. The people could not escape because the NKWD arrested the persons everywhere. The survived persons told that they have sleep in clothes because they were ready to be arrested. The major part of the people didn’t understand the reason of the arrests and killings. All the witnesses from the villages near Kurapaty told that during five years (from 1937 till June 23, 1941) they had hear every night how the victims shouted asking the executioners the same questions: “Why? Which is my fault? Tell me, why?” This fact demonstrates that the people where killed without the judicial process. Sometimes the NKVD took them to the court and the sentence was declared without any process. It was impossible in the circumstances of the death conveyor. The witness Mrs. Halina Zhukouskaya from Minsk told me that one night the NKVD has arrested their parents. The next morning she came to the NKVD office to get to know where were her parents and what was the reason of their arrest. In the NKVD office there were thousands of persons and children. She should stand in the queue to the investigator’s office during some days. At night the people in the queue sleep on the floor. The investigator told to everybody (without looking to the list of the convicted persons) the same information: “Ten years without the right to write and receive letters”. Then Mrs. Zhukouskaya got to know that their parents had been shot in Kurapaty. The investigators told the typical Russian lie. All the arrested persons where killed but their families where told the disinformation. The people didn’t know what is happening. The death conveyor functioned without delay. In addition the Soviet authorities used actively the extrajudicial procedure of the passing of sentence. The so-called “troika” consisted of three local representatives of the Communist party appointed by the local communist leadership. They have had the right to pass the death sentences and other sentences to the arrested persons. Many Belarusians were not able to find out any rational explanation of these events. The witness Mrs. Nadzeya Mikulich (the teacher from the village Tsna near Kurapaty) told me that one night the NKVD came to their village Malyshevichy near Slutsk and arrested her parents and many other peasants and teachers. They have arrested also a 60 years old women – Marylya Shpak. She was illiterate and absolutely deaf and lived in the cellar. She was very poor and even didn’t have her own house. The Russians tortured her brutally: they poured the sand to her throat and would obtain any confessions. Then they have killed her. The Belarusians which remained alive couldn’t understand the motivation of the behavior of the NKVD officers. Many of them interpreted the Soviet power not as the Russian occupation but as their own Soviet Belarusian power (in accordance with its formal character). Because of that such persons where disposed to believe in the communist propaganda and its lies about the struggle against “the people’s enemies”, “saboteurs”, “Trotskyists” – in all these inventions which covered the Russian policy of the genocide of the Belarusian people. When the German Nazi killed the Jewish people all the victims knew and understood that they were killed because they were Jews. The Germans told them about it. When the Russian NKVD officers killed the Belarusians the victims didn’t know the reason and asked the killers: “Why?” Our people couldn’t understand the sense of the genocide, couldn’t understand that the victims were killed because they were the Belarusians. The killers didn’t tell them nothing or told anything about the “people’s enemies’ and “spies”. The extermination of the people in Belarus has been carried out by the Russian communists in accordance with the rational and administrative plan. This plan was executed under the strict control of Moscow. Moscow prepared every year a special plan for every administrative territory of Belarus on the respective number of the “people’s enemies”. This was not a big secret because every Soviet ministry has had its own department of the GULAG which should supply the GULAG camps with the planned number of the prisoners for the Soviet economy. Only the precise number of the planned killings was secret. Moscow and the high administration of the NKVD elaborated these plans. The prosecutors, the investigators and judges which didn’t pass not enough numerous death sentences were shot. The conveyor of the death functioned mercilessly. The Minister of the internal affairs of Belarus Aliaxei Nasedkin which directed the killings in 1938 was arrested and shot. (This was typical rule in the Stalin’s USSR). But before the execution Mr. Nasedkin wrote the memoirs in his cell. This memoirs remained as a testimony and were published in 1990s. Mr. Nasedkin wrote that every day he should communicate to Moscow the number of the shot persons in Belarus in the last 24 hours in every province. Every director of the local administration (from the regional level till the village) and every leader of the local organization of the Communist party received their plans on the “people’s enemies” for every three months, every month and every year. The witnesses from the village Tsna near Kurapaty told me that their chairman of the state farm didn’t fulfil the plan on the “people’s enemies” (he didn’t surrender the people to the NKVD). The NKVD officers took him to Kurapaty and menaced him with the pistol over the pit and shouted: “Where are your people’s enemies? Give them to us!” We have analyzed the results of the archeological excavations carried on by us in 1988 and confirmed indirectly that the victims had been killed without the judicial procedure. The archeological excavations have demonstrated that the tombs had been dug out in the late 1940s and a big quantity of the human bones had been transported away. One of the witnesses confirmed this fact. The Russian NKVD officers understood very well what they have done in Belarus and they tried to cover their tracks. But without success. The executions by the NKVD didn’t have any juridical grounds. Correspondingly they didn’t follow the “juridical” procedure. In principle this was impossible in the circumstances of the mass killings. Because of that they presented only some delusional formalities. In effect they killed the persons in accordance with the political goals, and only Moscow knew these goals. Perhaps the killers believed that they execute the will of the communist party and liquidate the “people’s enemies”. The meetings with the executioners demonstrated that they were the professional killers and the dregs of society. The Soviet regime violated the principal right of the humanity – the right to the life (this right was mentioned in the “Stalin’s” Constitution of the USSR, art. 127). The genocide of the Belarusian people has had the extremely monstrous forms during WWII. Moscow has sent to the German rear in Belarus many NKVD groups. They should organize the guerrilla detachments killing the German units near the villages and provoking the German repressions. As a result the people fled to the forests to the guerrillas. At night the Soviet guerrillas robed and killed the Belarusian people. In the daytime the German punitive squads did the same. The reports made by the NKVD and sent to Moscow from Belarus demonstrated that only 10% of the persons killed by the guerrillas were the Germans. 90% of the victims were the Belarusian teachers, intellectuals, peasants, Belarusian office-workers in the German administration and other Belarusians. In the summer 1944 when the Soviet forces have reoccupied Belarus thousands of the Belarusian men have been mobilized into the Soviet army and forced to attack the Germans under the machinegun fire without the arms. From the rear the Soviets placed the NKVD “barrage” detachments. The Belarusians killed during these operations have been included into the list of “the persons killed during the war”. There are the questions: why the Russian communists exterminated the Belarusian people and with which methods? The roots of this policy are in the history of our civilization which existed between two expansions: from the East (the Mongols and Moscow) and from the West (the Germans). The struggle of our ancestors on two fronts should naturally cause the unification of the aggressive policy of the West and the East. This unification against Belarus took place in the late 18th century. The next historical periods represented the collision between the eastern and western systems (and economies). There were two world wars and the elimination of Belarus (the former Great Lithuanian Principality) by two aggressive forces. The Nazi have had two projects of the extermination of the people in Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first project represented “the final solution of the Jewish question” (i.e. the liquidation of the Jews). The second project was divided in two plans: “the plan of the starvation” (“Hungersplan”). In accordance with this plan the Germans should organize the artificial famine in order to eliminate 30 million persons in Belarus, Ukraine and the whole Eastern Europe. Then the second plan should be started – the “Generalplan Ost”. In accordance with this plan 50 million persons should be exterminated. I shall remark that some scientists are skeptical about the existence of the “Generalplan Ost”. This question is open. But the practice of the German Nazism as well as of the Lenin’s communism confirms this plan. The Russian communists have had the analogical plan concerning Belarus and Ukraine. But the Russians have “outdistanced” the Germans and have started this policy already in the 1930s. They have used the tactic of the artificial starvation. The Russians should repopulate the territories remained after the starved Ukrainians. The Great Famine of 1930s organized by the communists has caused three million dead persons (in accordance with the understated calculations made by the Western scientists). The Ukrainians calculate the number of the victims as about 10 million. Concerning Belarus the Russian occupants used other scheme formed by the Russian tsars as long ago as 17th century – the physical extermination of the population and the russification of the remained Belarusians. This policy provided the elimination of the Belarusian language, the historical memory and the national education. Then the “liberated” territory and the social structures should be populated by the Russians from Russian Eurasia. (By the way the anti-Belarusian Lukashenka regime carries on this policy of the russification). The so-called “Stalinist repressions” of the Soviet period have caused 6-7 times more victims in Belarus and Ukraine than in Russia because they where directed first of all against the national existence of the Belarusian and Ukrainian nations. Why the actual Russian communism is dangerous now? (Though it doesn’t exist as a formal phenomenon). It is dangerous because the main repressive force of the Russian communism which carried on the genocide has seized the political power in Russia. This force carries on the analogical policy (including the external policy) controlling the society like the communists did this in the past. The internal occupation of Belarus and the support of the pro-Moscow and pro-KGB Lukashenka regime by Moscow are the results of this policy. The Russian KGBism would like to establish the same system in Ukraine, in Caucasus and in some other regions of the world. The Russian KGBism represents the absolute power of the KGB in Russia where the KGB (FSB) is the main political force, a super-party which is at the same time the state structure which has concentrated in its hands the whole power and control over the society. The COMMUNISM is the ideology and the methodology of this super-party (though they don’t use the word “communism”). This system is renewing the Stalin’s cult and the cult of the NKVD as well as of the whole Soviet history. This system has made the anthem of the USSR the state anthem of its power. We observe the symbiosis of the communist and Nazi principles in the actions and internal development of this “super-party”. Its communist ideology assumes the Nazi character on the base of the pretensions and interests of the Russian imperialism. The Russian totalitarianism is still dangerous. The world shall resist as a united force this danger. The societies of Eastern Europe shall eliminate the metastases of the communism. The policy of mass killing carried on by the Soviet Union in 1920-50s in Eastern Europe (first of all in Belarus and Ukraine) ought be identified as the genocide of the nations and the criminal inhuman activity.
